House No. 151, today No. 153
Jakob farmed homestead No. 151. After the village was renumbered the house became No. 153, and it still stands.
It is built in the traditional Upper Lusatian way. The log-built parlour on the ground floor is surrounded by an Umgebinde, a frame of timber posts and arches that carries the upper floor and the roof. When the logs shrink as they dry, the upper floor stays put. That is why such houses last for centuries.
